Experience needed - minimum 3 months from last grading and minimum 20 lessons.

Pass Mark - 55.

 

RENRAKU WAZA (Combination techniques)

1. Yoi - Naihanchi dachi kamae - Step back into kokutsu dachi - leading hand gedan shuto uchi uke - Zenkutsu dachi - Chudan gyaku shuto soto uke - Turns into naname zenkutsu dachi - Gedan shuto uchi uke - Step forwards - Sanchin dachi - Tsuka mi uke to opponents elbow - Return to Yoi.

Parallel Stance (feet turned inwards) guard - step back into back stance - leading hand knife hand strike to lower body area - Change to forward stance - Reverse forearm block to body using small finger edge of forearm. (blocking from outside to the inside) - Turn into slanted front leg bent stance - Reverse forearm block to lower body area - Step forward into hour glass stance - Grasping block - Forearm strike to opponents elbow, turning hips - Return to kamae.

 

2. Yoi - Zenkutsu dachi kamae - Sliding forward jodan maeken zuki - Half step jodan sekkyaku zuki - Complete step into zenkutsu dachi - chudan gyaku zuki - Guard.

Step forward into forward stance guard - Sliding forward front/leading hand punch to head - Half step and punch to the head - Complete step into forward stance - Reverse punch to body using opposite hand - Guard.

 

3. Yoi - Zenkutsu dachi kamae - Chudan mae geri - Chudan mawashi geri - Chudan ushiro mawashi geri - Land in zenkutsu dachi - Chudan gyaku zuki - Guard.

step forward into forward stance guard - (using alternate legs) Front kick to body - Roundhouse kick to body - Hook kick to body - Land in forward stance - Reverse punch to body using opposite hand - Guard.

 

KATA

4. Pinan Godan. Front View.

    Pinan Godan. Rear View.

 

5. Tensho. Front View.

    Tensho. Side View.

 

MAKIWARA WAZA - Pad work (Left & Right side) 

6. (Tsuki) Maekin zuki - Guard - push back change guard - Sekkyaku zuki - complete step and Guard

7. (Keri) Two pad holders - Mae tobi geri - Ushiro mawashi geri.  To be perfomed in combination using alternate legs.

 

8. Ippon Kumite. Jodan mawashi zuki - Demonstrate two different defences against opponent attacking with right hand roundhouse punch to the head. Student's choice of defence. Defender and attacker to start in Zenkutsu dachi kamae.

 

9. Hokei Kumite  7 & 8 - Performed in combination in both Left & Right side. 

 

10. Jiyu Kumite - Free style sparring

Pass Mark - Colour 45; Black tab 55.

 

RENRAKU WAZA (Combination Techniques). 

 

1. Yoi - Naihanchi dachi kamae - Step back into neko ashi dachi - Jodan shuto uchi uke - Drop back into kokutsu dachi - Leading hand gedan shuto uchi uke - Change to zenkutsu dachi - Jodan gyaku shuto soto uke - uchi uke -Sidestep - Shiko dachi - Chudan zuki - Return to Yoi.

Parallel stance (feet turned inwards) guard - step back into cat stance - knife hand strike to side of neck - Drop back into back stance - Leading knife hand strike to lower body area - Change to forward stance - Reverse forearm block to the head using small finger edge of forearm. (blocking from the outside to the inside) - Sidestep into horse straddle stance - Punch to body - Return to kamae

 

2. Yoi - zenkutsu dachi kamae - Sliding forward jodan maeken zuki - Chudan gyaku zuki - Step forward and with the same hand jodan uraken zuki - Chudan gyaku zuki - Guard.

Step forward into forward stance guard - Sliding forward front/leading hand punch to the head - Reverse punch to body using opposite hand - Step forward and back fist strike to side of head using the same hand - Reverse punch to body using opposite hand - Guard - Return to kamae.

 

3. Yoi - (Hidari) zenkutsu dachi kamae - Rear leg side step to the right - (Hidari) Chudan mawashi geri - Land (HIdari) zenkutsu dachi - Change guard - (Migi) Rear leg ashi barai - (Migi) Zenkutsu dachi - Chudan gyaku zuki - Guard - return to kamae.

Step forward into forward stance guard - side step to the right and left leg roundhouse kick to the body - Land in left forward stance - change guard - Right leg sweep - Land in right forward stance - Reverse punch to body - Guard - Return to kamae.

 

KATA

4. Pinan Yondan. Front Facing.

    Pinan Yondan. Rear Facing.

 

5. Sanchin. Front view.

    Sanchin. Side view.

 

MAKIWARA WAZA - (Pad work using one pad holder (Left & Right side).

6. (Tsuki) Gedan barai - Chudan uchi uke - Guard. Combination using same arm.

 

7. (Keri) - Surikomi - Yoko geri kekomi - Land and turn - ushiro geri. Combination using alternate legs.

 

8. Ippon Kumite. Chudan gyaky zuki - Demonstrate two different defences against opponents attacking with reverse punch to the body. Student's choice of defence. Defender and attacker to start in Zenkutsu dachi kamae.

 

9. Hokei kumite 5 & 6 - Performed in combination in both Left & Right side. 

 

10. Jiyu Kumite - free Style Sparring

RENRAKU WAZA (Combination Techniques)

1. Yoi - (Naihanchi dachi) kamae - Step back into Kokutsu dachi - Gedan barai - Zenkutsu dachi - Chudan gyaku soto uke - Shiko dachi (sideways on) - Chudan uchi uke - Zenkutsu dachi - Chudan gyaku zuki - Return to kamae.

Parallel stance (feet turned inwards) guard - step back into back stance - Leading hand downward sweeping block to lower body area - Change to forward stance - Forearm block using small finger edge of forearm (blcking from the outside to the inside) - Change to horse straddle stance (sideways on) - Forearm block using thumb edge of forearm (blocking from the inside to the outside) - Change to leaning forward stance - Reverse punch to the body - Return to kamae.

 

2. Yoi - Zenkutsu dachi kamae - Sliding forward jodan maeken zuki - Chudan gyaku zuki - Guard.

Step forward into forward stance guard - Sliding forward front/ leading hand punch to the head - Reverse punch to the body using opposite hand - Guard.

 

3. Yoi - Zenkutsu dachi kamae -

Step forward into forward stance guard - (using alternate legs) Front kick to body - Roundhouse kick to body - Back kick to body - Land in forward stance - reverse punch to body using opposite hand - Guard.

 

KATA 

4. Empi Waza kata. Front Facing. 

    Empi Waza kata. Rear Facing

 

5. Pinan Sandan. Front Facing.

    Pinan Sandan. Rear Facing.

 

MAKIWARA WAZA - pad work using one pad holder (Left & Right side).

6. (Tsuki) Gyaku Zuki - Tettsui otoshi uchi - Guard. Combination using same arm.

7.  (Keri) Mae geri keage - mawashi geri - Combination using same leg.

 

8. Ippon Kumite. Mae shime waza - Demonstrate defence against opponent attacking with a). Two hands front strangulation and b). One hand (right hand) front strangulation. Defender and attacker to start in Soto hachiji dachi kamae.

 

9. Hokei kumite 3 & 4 - To be individually performed in both Left & Right side.

 

10. Jiyu Kumite - Free style sparring.

 

Useful Japanese terms to learn from this grading ;

Kokutsu dachi - Back stance.

Soto uke - Inward forearm block.

Uchi uke - Outward block.

Ushiro mawahi geri - Hook kick.

Otoshi uchi - Downward strike.
