6th KYU - GREEN BELT

 

 

 

Experience needed - minimum of 3 months and 20 lessons from your last grading and your instructors approval before taking this grading. 

Pass Mark - 55.

 

RENRAKU WAZA (Combination Techniques)

1. Yoi - (Naihanchi dachi) kamae - Step back into Kokutsu dachi - Gedan barai - Zenkutsu dachi - Chudan gyaku soto uke - Shiko dachi (sideways on) - Chudan uchi uke - Zenkutsu dachi - Chudan gyaku zuki - Return to kamae.

Parallel stance (feet turned inwards) guard - step back into back stance - Leading hand downward sweeping block to lower body area - Change to forward stance - Forearm block using small finger edge of forearm (blcking from the outside to the inside) - Change to horse straddle stance (sideways on) - Forearm block using thumb edge of forearm (blocking from the inside to the outside) - Change to leaning forward stance - Reverse punch to the body - Return to kamae.

 

2. Yoi - Zenkutsu dachi kamae - Sliding forward jodan maeken zuki - Chudan gyaku zuki - Guard.

Step forward into forward stance guard - Sliding forward front/ leading hand punch to the head - Reverse punch to the body using opposite hand - Guard.

 

3. Yoi - Zenkutsu dachi kamae -

Step forward into forward stance guard - (using alternate legs) Front kick to body - Roundhouse kick to body - Back kick to body - Land in forward stance - reverse punch to body using opposite hand - Guard.

 

KATA 

4. Empi Waza kata. Front Facing. 

    Empi Waza kata. Rear Facing

 

5. Pinan Sandan. Front Facing.

    Pinan Sandan. Rear Facing.

 

MAKIWARA WAZA - pad work using one pad holder (Left & Right side).

6. (Tsuki) Gyaku Zuki - Tettsui otoshi uchi - Guard. Combination using same arm.

7.  (Keri) Mae geri keage - mawashi geri - Combination using same leg.

 

8. Ippon Kumite. Mae shime waza - Demonstrate defence against opponent attacking with a). Two hands front strangulation and b). One hand (right hand) front strangulation. Defender and attacker to start in Soto hachiji dachi kamae.

 

9. Hokei kumite 3 & 4 - To be individually performed in both Left & Right side.

 

10. Jiyu Kumite - Free style sparring.

 

Useful Japanese terms to learn from this grading ;

Kokutsu dachi - Back stance.

Soto uke - Inward forearm block.

Uchi uke - Outward block.

Ushiro mawahi geri - Hook kick.

Otoshi uchi - Downward strike.
